We Are All Singing The January Blues

Here we are. We made it to 2024. We all had excitement on New Year’s Eve. We were waiting in those final moments, waiting for midnight. We all look forward to the new year, but within a few weeks into January, the excitement is all gone.
Some suffer from seasonal affective disorder. This can be due to the lack of daylight and cold weather, especially for those who live in the colder climates.
The transition from the holiday season to the month of normalcy can be challenging and a sense of emptiness. When there is all the hype of the holidays, and then at the end, nothing changes once they are over, it can be a bit of a letdown.
It is partly why I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions or that my life will change suddenly because it is a New Year. Things happen and change when they do, and nobody can put a timeline on it. If I want to take action and put forth my initiative for change, I do it when I want to and don’t wait until the new year. It is essential for my mental health.
I always try to have realistic expectations during this time of year. I avoid the mentality of new me, new year. Nothing happens overnight.
Remember, we are just entering the new year, and better days are coming. Nobody can put a timeframe on when they will happen, but they happen when the timing is right. Everything will work out in the end.
