Ways to Help You Become a Healthier Person.
Even if they are small things you change in your life, all of it adds up, and before you know it you have changed enough to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Over the last few years, I have been getting up in age and I figured it is now or never that I start taking care of my body. I sure know over the years all the garbage I put into my body had done a lot of damage already. Hoping that I can salvage what is left of my body and heal some of the damage I have caused.
Drugs, alcohol, and smoking tore my body up and I know it may be a little too late but I am still going to try to keep as healthy as I possibly can even if a little at a time.
I quit drugs 11 years now and want to help anyone who needs help or wants help with their addiction. Even if it is just to talk. I’m here anyway I can be. I quit drinking I think 12 years now. I do not remember the exact day. Didn’t even tend to make it a thing. I just knew after this, I had to stop drinking.
I was on the fentanyl patches (yes, I know how bad they are. I never got mine off the street plus when I was on them it was not like it is today with horse tranquilizer in them) I went out to the bar to play pool and I was leaning on a bar stool, the ones with no backs on them and I fell asleep. I did not fall down thank God, but after that, I was done drinking. I was not drunk even.
Then a few more years later I had gone to rehab and have been clean since. Now when I say clean, I mean I finally take what I need the proper way plus, I use to use other drugs partying. That was even something I had not done in maybe 20 years but I had. The main thing was I took more of my pain medication than I should have been then going out to the bar and got drunk.
Many addicts can be clean and still take one drug to help them stay off all the other drugs that were killing them. Sure many of you heard of methadone. Many say they are not clean taking that. If that one drug is saving their lives, they are clean. Most people take so many drugs that they would have overdosed by now or have a heart attack from the drugs.
Then my last vice. Smoking. I had been smoking since I have been 11 years old. My older brother and older sister got me to smoke with them. It is going to be 3 years since I finally got rid of that nasty habit.
I think what scared me the most about smoking was Covid. I just thought about how bad my lungs were already and if I got covid. I wouldn't make it. So think I got scared into quitting. That is ok with me. I had been wanting to quit just couldn’t shake it.
I use to always walk a block or two at a time. Can’t walk far with my back. But I had done that a few times a day to stay healthy and try and keep my back strong. I moved to the country and well the road I lived on was dangerous, with no sidewalk. I quit walking. Now I moved to a small group of houses and I can walk here. So slowly working on my health.
See how I had done it and I believe anyone else can do it too. Work on one thing at a time. Take your time, and do not pressure yourself because that will not work. Do it on your time when you are ready. If you do it this way, I can bet you will have much more success than being pressured into doing things.
Just a little help if you want to work on yourself. One other thing that helps is to work on your mental health too. If you are not mentally well then it will be hard to succeed in anything. Mental health goes right with your body health. It is all one. You are just one person, and so is your health.
