Water Yourself
Just like plants need watering to grow, so do we

My 4 year old son was having a bath today when he asked for his toy watering can to play with in his bathtub. After he filled it up with water, he then poured it all over himself.
As he did that, he said, “Daddy look, I watering plant” and laughed. It was nice to see him having fun as he bathed.
I thought to myself, how nice it is to have such innocence in yourself.
He kept filling up his toy watering can and kept watering himself. Each time as he did it, he just laughed and laughed.
Watching him, it got me to thinking.
Plants need water to grow. That’s why we water our plants. Why then, don’t we water ourselves too?
Metaphorically speaking of course.
Just like plants, we need to be ‘watered’ in order to grow and flourish. We need to be fed good things so that we grow strong, full of good values and traits.
Watching my son literally watering himself reminded me of that.
What have we been feeding ourselves all these while?
Aside from proper food for our body, are we feeding ourselves proper food for our mind and soul too?
Are we reading good materials?
Are we thinking good thoughts?
Are we eating food that’s good for our body?
Author’s note: With the fast pace the world is constantly in, we often forget to slow down to look at the small, simple things. Sometimes, when you do, you realize that we are so caught up in this rat race that we may be neglecting the most important thing to us — our health.
Just like how it’s relaxing when you’re watering the plants in your garden, it is just as relaxing when you take the time to ‘water’ yourself.
Remember, taking care of yourself should be your main priority.
