Was News Break Going To Be The Answer?
No, apparently it was not going to be that easy
The news has not been good about News Break
Although I have been with Medium for over six months, I had not heard of News Break until recently. Someone (sorry I don’t remember the name) wrote an article on Medium about News Break. She said that she had signed up and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had deposited $1,000 into her bank account after her first month with them.
Medium writers could earn money with News Break.
That sounded good since Medium seems to be a way to only earn pennies per day for most people. News Break was allowing Medium writers to use previously published articles for News Break. The name obviously means that they are generally looking for current news articles.
It sounded too good to be true. You would be paid $1,000 a month as a minimum if you were signed up with them as a writer and produced three articles a week. That sounds easy enough. It said that they would respond to your email inquiry within a week to let you know if you were accepted to apply to their platform.
I sent them an email and received an immediate reply, which was obviously computer generated. It said that they had received such a huge response that it was taking longer for them to get back to answer email inquiries. That sounded reasonable.
Then another writer on Medium wrote about News Break. He said that the company had changed their format. They were no longer paying that guaranteed $1,000 a month. They presumably were running out of money and found that they could not sustain what they thought was a good idea.
It looks like News Break is not going to be the answer to earning some regular income. Maybe it will still work after they make some revisions to their policies.
Those who are writing for Medium with the goal of earning some money will just have to keep trying to get to that coveted $100 a month. Hopefully, it will grow from there.
Some people are undoubtedly very successful on Medium. Maybe your luck will change and your turn will come. Don’t give up hope.
