Was It A Real Angel?
A poem for today
Just today, in a vision, much like a dream
I saw a huge angel glorious and supreme
He wept though, into his large hands
Shaking his head from the sins of man
I stepped closer to make sure I would see
Just whether this was a man standing under the tree
In my back yard a few steps from the door
He seemed sorrowful, saddened, and far more
His appearance was that of a young Shaq O’Neal
I looked up into his face concerned if I may appeal
Then with a haunting voice of James Earl Jones
He spoke warnings of judgments soon to come
I questioned so many things that he mentioned
His answers were quick and direct without contention
He used his hands to majestically dry his tears
Leaned down towards me to whisper into my ear
I heard every word but forgot what he spoke
More questions from me I just had to know
Are you here for my prayers? Did you come for me?
Across the sky, I looked and did see
The entire world was shaking, falling apart
It frightened me deeply, indeed shook my heart
Mother Earth was weeping and declaring her hurt
I saw evil corruption and destruction upon the earth
Sitting down on the ground my knees were shaking
I was a mess and wondered if I could be mistaking
This had to be a dream I am still asleep I thought
The Truth was too powerful for me to just block
I said to myself this surely is just my Muse
Come to inspire me to write more to peruse
The man angel turned to walk away
He had given me all the words he would say
“Can I hug you, shake your hand, or just wave goodbye?”
He smiled at me with blazing sparkles in his eyes
“You may not touch me, you have yet more to learn.”
“I go there yonder, back here I will not return.”
I looked into the sky once more the sun was ablaze
Clouds were designing pictures among its topaz rays
The peace I felt in that moment, I have never felt before
Yes, he was an angel, he could have told me more
I walked inside my home and eagerly sat down
Calmly basking in the genuine serenity, I had found
In knowing that the Creator Lovingly cares for me
His angel came to let me know I am in divine safety.
