Poetry

Warming up My Soup One Letter at a Time

My first abecedarian poem

Someone ate all my pasta! (Image by FoodieFactor on Pixabay)

Adagio, slow, sometimes unsteady

Being human I’m not always ready

Caution my motto displaces the fear

Dancing and laughing in case it draws near

Eternally seeking love and the light

Forever tweaking my dreams in the night

Gain understanding connect with others

Harvest friendships with sisters and brothers

Intentions, ambitions, never let go

Just keep on going and never say no

Keep growing, sowing the seeds of my future

Living in fullness, happy to nurture

My Self and others, engage from all hearts

Need no permission to stay and take part

Obstacles disappear carried away

Pledges of happiness we shall not stray

Questions abound, are we on the right path

Resolve, gentle answers devoid of wrath

Solutions flash, twinkle, soothe, disappear

Teasing, returning and calling us near

Underneath all the disguises we’ve worn

Vigilant now as the true We is born

When we emerge from the edges of sight

Xenon, noble host, steps forward with light

Yesterday melts, breaks the ice in our Soul

Zenith is reached — there forever we’ll stroll

I believe one is never too old to learn something new. I hope you’ll forgive me for trying!

Being a novice poet, I had never heard of abecedarian poetry until I read this poem by Gurpreet Dhariwal whom I regard as the Queen of Poetry.

Thank you for the inspiration!
