Warm Blades of Humidity
Free Verse Poetry Challenge to Holly Jahangiri’s “Humid”
It’s ten in the evening Today was boiling hot, Like every day is boiling hot. No rain for three months, The heat just builds. Heat upon heat There is no escape, For me or the acrid heat. I take a shower to try and cool off, There is no such thing as cool water, It’s never cold water this time of year, Or any time of year.
I sit I sweat, as if the heat was not enough, The stagnating humid air is turned graciously Through fan blades knowingly taunting me, As I beg for cool air, Cool air it refuses to deliver. So I continue to sweat.
