War Of Words

Prose about the war happening in Israel and wars around the world

This prose was written as a result of my reflections about the war in Israel and the wars that are happening all over the world right now. As an Army war veteran, I can tell you that wartime weighs down on your very soul. It is an unrest that never leaves you.

I was trained for war, but nothing prepares you to see your fellow man die, babies burned or those taken captive. My hope is that someone, somewhere in the war will find comfort and peace during this tumultuous time.

In shadows deep, where sorrow weaves its tale, Amidst the clash of steel, where hopes grow pale, A symphony of pain, the sorrows of war, Echoes through the ages, forevermore.

Upon the battlefield, where brave hearts bleed, Lies the lament of souls, a desperate creed, A mother weeps for her fallen son, His laughter silenced, his life undone.

In distant lands, where once there bloomed a rose, Now lies a field where only sorrow grows, The songs of joy replaced by mournful cries, As cities crumble beneath the blood-stained skies.

Brother fights brother, a tragic divide, In the name of causes, where faith and hope collide, Families torn asunder, their homes laid waste, The bitter taste of loss, no time can efface.

The rivers run with tears, the earth, it sighs, For every fallen soul beneath the endless skies, Oh, the sorrows of war, they know no end, A cycle of destruction that will not mend.

In the midst of darkness, a flicker of light, A longing for peace, in the middle of the fight, For in the hearts of many, compassion resides, A hope that one day, love will coincide.

Let us pray for an end to this horrible night, Where guns turn to plowshares, and all can unite, In a world where the sorrows of war find release, And the echoes of battle finally find peace.
