Summary

"War of Hearts" is a poignant ballad reflecting on the tragic consequences of war, the cycle of violence, and the yearning for peace.

Abstract

The poem "War of Hearts" captures the sorrowful impact of war on individuals and communities, with riverbeds metaphorically drenched in misery and souls bleeding out. It portrays a world where hatred has reached the heavens, and hearts are shackled by fear, leaving people in a state of perpetual hopelessness and far from freedom. Amidst this despair, there is a glimmer of hope as some are destined to alter the course of fate, engaging in life-or-death struggles to achieve peace. The young are called to march into battle, sacrificing for a cause they believe in, with the aspiration to return home. The structure of the poem, reminiscent of a ballad, reinforces its narrative through repetition of a refrain, emphasizing the themes of loss and the pursuit of peace.
