Want To Make Healthy Vegan Bacon? You Need Liquid Smoke

I started using liquid smoke back when I was manufacturing Vegan Coconut Bacon out of my basement apartment (that’s my baby above).
This post is for Adrienne Beaumont, who said she’d never heard of liquid smoke — a natural product made from condensing the smoke from burning wood.
While it was originally used by omnivores to give a smoky flavor to meat, the vegan community adopted it to make vegan bacon.
What’s vegan bacon? Delicious, smoky, kind, healthy food.
The key ingredients are a touch of liquid smoke, some tamari sauce, and a couple of other seasonings of your choice.
Try making bacon out of:
- Coconut
- Rice paper
- Eggplant
- Mushrooms
- Carrots
- Starch water
- Tempeh
- Tofu
And probably more.
I’ll be posting a recipe tomorrow! Find more food inspiration here.
