Want to lose Big Weight? It’s all in the soup…

Nope, I’m not a dietitian, nutritionist, or food expert of any kind.
I am just a common-or-garden, 40-year-old mom who has so far lost over 44 pounds — that’s 20 kilograms — in just over two years. No pills, no surgery, no shakes or packaged ‘weight loss’ food. No crazy exercise regime. Just slowly and steadily dropping those pounds, while minimizing outbursts of the Hulk-like ‘hangry mom’ (watch out when she’s around. No chocolate is safe!)
Hey, I would never advocate for the ‘lose weight quick’ scams. They lead to one of two things: death or even more weight gain than before. We all know it, the science is clear.
And because I’m interested in the science, the weight loss techniques I have used are grounded in evidence collected from scientific studies that have been tested and consolidated. There’s always more to learn, but these have worked for me and for others. Maybe they’ll work for you.
The two techniques?
Intermittent Fasting
and
800 calories a day.
I will write more on these, and include some links to science in other articles. But for now, let’s focus on the how-tos, specifically for the 800 calories a day technique.
First, it’s not every day!
Are you kidding? Impossible! And no fun at all.
Second, if you combine this with intermittent fasting and forget about breakfast (or dinner, your choice), you can have two good-sized meals a day — plus a snack.
Third, and here’s my main point:
Make soups your new best friend.
Yes, my friends, you will never have a more delicious, healthy and calorie-friendly meal than soup.
And I’m not talking about those $1 or less cup-a-soups, powder in a bag, just-add-water varieties.
(Although they actually can provide a quick warm-up and snack for just 100–200 calories. Don’t discount them entirely.)
But why go for powder, when you can go for fresh, home-grown vegetables, full of minerals, vitamins, and everything you need to sustain you till the next mealtime?
I’m also not talking about those ‘soups’ which are watery meals. You know the ones, full of pasta or noodles, packed with boiled egg halves, seafood or ham.
These are not soups for dieting!
These are soups for pretending you’re dieting when really you’re eating as many calories as ever!
You know, like when you order the salad at your favorite fast food restaurant because it’s healthier, even though it’s so full of sugary mayonnaise and fatty bread croutons and pasta and creamy sauce and meats that it’s probably higher in calories than the double burger you avoided.
Nope. I’m talking delicious, home made, vegetable soups.
And don’t worry: I’m not going to leave you hanging. I will be posting some of my favorite easy, delicious, cheap, filling and awesome soup recipes soon.
Keep an eye out!
