Want to Become a Medium Member?
Are you ready for the Medium Membership yet?

Today I thought that I would take a minute or two to write this short article about signing up for the Member Membership. That is if you have not already done so. Let’s get started.
Do you want to learn more about the Medium Membership program? In this article, I will attempt to answer any questions you may have. I am a Medium Member and have been taking advantage of the benefits that come with it.
How Does Medium Membership Function?
Everything you need to know about Medium membership, including how it works, how much it costs, and how to sign up, is right here. Whether you’re considering joining or want to learn more about what membership entails, we’ve got you covered.
Paid vs. Free
To begin, the free membership allows you to read only 2–3 articles per month, whereas the paid membership allows you to read an unlimited number of articles. In my opinion, the more you read, the more you will learn. There are two types of membership available: free and paid.
Although free membership has many limitations, it does give you access to all of Medium’s publishing tools, including email distribution and curation. Paid membership enables greater reach through shareable stories and increased promotion via sponsored posts.
Paid membership also allows publishers to receive a portion of revenue from third-party advertising partners; as a writer, paid members can also set their own price for promoting their articles on their author pages. (Note: Medium itself doesn’t sell ads.)
Why Become a Member?
Joining Medium is an excellent way to support journalism and media. It also grants you access to additional features on our platform, such as seeing who recommends you and having an ad-free experience across all of your devices.
This is how it works: You pay $5 per month via PayPal or credit card, and we charge you on the first of every month. With a few clicks in your account settings, you can cancel at any time (they want you to stay!). All new memberships are charged immediately and do not carry over from month to month.
Full Disclaimer: When you read a story for members, a portion of your membership fee goes directly to the author through the Medium Partner Program. This way, Medium membership lets you support your favorite writers and helps them earn money.
What Benefits Do I Receive as a Member?
Members can expect a simple, easy-to-use interface that prioritizes content. They also get a higher ranking in search results, more commenting options, and access to members-only forums.
More importantly, members develop meaningful relationships with their readers, just as large publications do. And it’s all housed in a lovely platform that promotes thoughtful reading, sharing, and writing. That strikes me as quite unique.
Where Can I Find Additional Features?
The best way to find out what you can get is to go to Settings and look at your options. You can access several features through the Extra Features menu, including email address verification and post-filters. Go to your account settings if you want even more.
That’s where you’ll find a list of all of your features and their prices (you can also subscribe here). Depending on how much premium content you want to read, you can pay $5 or $50 per month.
Members have access to exclusive content (including startup writing), special badges for their profiles, unlimited likes for each post, and more with a membership.
What Can I Do on Medium to Benefit from Being a Member?
You get unlimited access to stories that don’t make it into our regular publishing program as a member. These can be articles written by contributors accepted through our nominations program, or they can be original pieces written exclusively for members by people like founder Ev Williams and journalists from well-known publications like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Furthermore, every story has comments enabled, allowing members to interact directly with authors about what they’ve read. You can ask questions about how each story was researched or reported on an exclusive members-only discussion board. Members will be among the first to hear about new initiatives when they launch in 2022 and beyond.
Is It Worth It to Become a Member?
Medium can be used in a variety of ways. You don’t need a membership if you just want to read without having much say in what other people post. You can get access to some additional tools that can help your writing and networking for $5 per month (or $50 per year).
Membership will be far more beneficial if your goal is to become an influencer in a specific topic or field. The first is to make your members-only posts public so that people outside of your network can see them in their home feeds and when they do an internet search for that topic.
In my opinion, it is worthwhile because I enjoy reading endless stories and my writing income has significantly increased.
How Does Medium Pay Its Writers?
The Medium Partner Program allows you to earn money on the platform. Medium generates revenue by charging members $5 per month to read stories published on the website. When members read a story, the writer receives a portion of the monthly fee. They can also ‘clap’ when they like a story.
Joining the Medium Partner Program is completely free, but it is recommended that you also become a paying member ($5/month) in order to read other stories on Medium. This can assist you in deciding what to write, displaying popular stories, and allowing you to support other writers.
The length of time members read your stories determines your earnings in the partner program.
There is no exact formula for calculating your pay, but the more time members spend reading a story (and the more members who read it), the more money you will earn.
Hint: Writing longer articles is a great way to boost your earnings.
How Much Money Can You Make Writing?
Approximately 5% of Medium writers earn more than $100 per month. Although this may not appear to be much, some of the best writers earn more than $25,000 per month!
I believe that the key to Medium success is to write stories on a consistent basis, so that even if you only make a few dollars per story per month, it all adds up over time.
It’s difficult to say how many Medium writers write consistently, which has a big impact on how much you can earn. You have a better chance of falling into that 5% if you write stories on a regular basis.
How To Get Your Story Accepted In Publications
Your stories can be submitted to Medium publications (collections of stories on specific topics). If the editors of that publication accept your story, the followers of that publication will see it.
Some publications have tens of thousands of followers, so don’t be afraid to submit your work; if it’s accepted, it could get a lot of attention. If this is the case, you will receive an email informing you that your story has been accepted by the publication (yay!).
On that note, don’t be disheartened if your story is turned down. Approximately half of my stories have been published; occasionally, the article is not a good fit for the publication.
I’ve even had three stories rejected by publications only to have editors from different publications contact me and say they wanted to feature them.
If you want your story to be published on Medium, first read the curation guidelines. If your story has these characteristics, it will be much more likely to be published.
Also, before submitting a story, read the guidelines for each publication; they will usually be very clear on what they are looking for and how to apply.
