Walls of Fear
How Vulnerability and Empathy Transformed One Writer’s Journey
Sheila had always been afraid of showing her vulnerability. She believed that if she let her guard down, people would see her weaknesses and take advantage of her. So, she built a wall around herself, keeping everyone at a safe distance.
One day, Sheila decided to challenge herself and write a microfiction story about a character who was vulnerable.
As she wrote, she found herself connecting with the character’s emotions and experiences. She realized that vulnerability was not a weakness, but a strength.
As Sheila shared her story with others, she noticed that people responded to it with empathy and understanding.
They shared their own vulnerabilities and struggles, and she felt a deeper connection with them.
Over time, Sheila became more comfortable with showing her vulnerability in her writing and in her relationships.
She discovered that vulnerability was the key to building authentic connections with others, and that her fears had been holding her back from experiencing true empathy and connection.
From fear to empathy, Sheila’s journey had been transformative. She continued to write micro fiction stories that explored the depths of human emotions and experiences, and found that each story brought her closer to the people around her.
