Walking — what it does with your body and mind

There are times that I love being on the beach. There are times I like walking through the woods. There are times I love just being at home and do whatever I supposed to do. I love to play the violin, paint and write. And many more things to do to clear my mind and body.

What happens to your body and your mental health when you’re in the middle of nature? Things I’m asking myself lately very often, but also write about. Because I’ve heard it’s damn good to be in nature (of course, I knew it already, but getting confirmation is good as well, haha). I am curious if someone else experiences the same as I do or if someone experiences something else. How do you experience being in nature and walking through the woods?

I wrote it before, but being in nature is one of my favourite things to do. Personally, when I walk outside, I inhale the clean air into my body with my nose, spread my arms when I standstill. When I walk, I do some exercise, at least it is an exercise as people say. When you exercise, you feel fit and more energized. At least, it should be, but I don’t have any energy lately. But I think it’s also the courage you need to go outside and go for that long or short walk to create the energy you supposed or you want to have. It looks good on everyone, I can say. Also on me. The main reason why I just pull myself together to walk is that I like walking in the first place, but I want to get more energy and try to run as well. So, when I don’t have the energy, I just give myself a pep talk to go outside for that long or maybe short walk, if I have the time. I know I can do it: mostly between 2,5 km and 10 km.

What happens to me after a walk?

I don’t really know if there will happen anything to me, like as a bad thing or a good thing you see in movies, but your body reacts internally about when you’re in the nature or doing sports at all and thus being outside. What do I feel when I’m in the nature? It’s not describable for me how I feel when I’m in the nature!

I’ll try to explain why I love to be in nature:

I feel the inhaling I do of being in nature during the walk — or even cycling — it’s intense. This intenseness is like flying over the road you pass, flying like a bird or maybe more like flying as a butterfly when you’re turning around. Sometimes my eyes gets wide (maybe it feels like this, haha) or something like that. The breeze of the wind blows in my face and my hair flies to the back, you will see my neck and the little cold of the wind I get. I enjoy that moment. The smile gets on my face and turning around a bit.

I know, when I come back, I have more energy and thus more inspiration for anything I like to do. The more you walk or do any kind of sports, the more energized you are! It feels that way for me.

Most of the time I think about issues that’s on my mind.

It’s like you’re in peace with something.
