Walking Softly

Going beyond observation

The birds in the surrounding trees took flight at the sound of Diego’s footsteps. I must not be walking softly enough, he thought.

Diego considered himself a master observer. He observed the world around him and missed very little. But he preferred not to engage with that world.

Perhaps the birds were telling him that he was wrong about that. Perhaps even in his secluded hermit lifestyle he was interacting with the world around him more than he thought.

Diego had a fear of affecting the world in a negative way — especially when it came to other people. It may be why he had almost no friends. He knew of the powerful impact one’s energy has on one’s immediate environment and those in that environment. He could see it and feel it.

Diego also knew that his energy was not perfect. He emitted plenty of negative energy despite his intention of having only good thoughts, good emotions, good attitudes and good intentions. The negative energy was an amalgamation of all his guilt, fear, stress, ego, and life-long history of negative experiences.

He had once been very fucked up, to put it in clinical terms. He had come a long way in self-healing but he still had a long way to go. There was still plenty of negative energy in his bio-field and he did not want to pollute his immediate environment — especially those humans inhabiting that environment — with that negative energy. He figured that once he completely cleared all that negative energy from his being then he could once again enter into and interact with that world that included humans which he was part of.

As Diego continued walking down the leaf-strewn path a rabbit scurried away as he unknowingly approached it.

He stopped walking. He whispered quietly, Come back little bunny rabbit. You don’t have to be afraid. I won’t hurt you.

Then Diego observed what he just said and what he had been thinking. Suddenly, he wanted to go back home and start the walk all over again except this time doing it differently somehow.
