Walking Out of The Shadow of Grief
A Poem of Certain Hope

In the unshakeable shadow of grief,
I journey alone on the path of life.
The shadow remains constant through the day
From the early morn to the high noon-day
Into the early evening with the moon ascending;
Unshakeable even as the sun returned on the morrow.
When the road seems long, and temptation strong,
I remember how you pressed on;
When your strengths almost gone.
Afflicted, stricken, and smitten,
With aching bones out of joint,
Keeping your faith to finish the race.
In the evening as the moonlight wane,
Grief persists hidden in the lunar shadow.
My mouth cries out in thirst,
As my heart pounds for warmth;
Hands reach out for comforting grace,
Nothing in my hands to give,
Seeking only your embrace,
Waking up to find you’ve gone.
Memories linger, never forgotten,
As our love endures forever.
O, what joy fills my soul in the darkest night,
Knowing you rest now in peace on His right hand.
In His love, I too abide,
No longer lonely,
For now, He too is mine.
In His presence, I found fullness of joy,
His gentle light leads me all the way,
Driving out the shadows of grief
With the sufficiency of His grace.
Together, we walk in faith throughout the day,
With blessed assurance for our meet
At the end of all the timeless days.
