Walk with Him

Today's sermon was from Matthew 14:25–31

Jesus went up by Himself to pray and left the disciples. Later on, the disciples were all in their boat in the middle of the sea.

The boat was being hit with some rough waves and Jesus saw them and He walked on the water towards them in the storm-tossed waves. The disciples were afraid and thought that they were seeing a ghost. But Jesus said to them:

“Be of good cheer! It is I, do not be afraid!”

Peter then asked if he could walk out to Jesus on the water — and as he did Peter began to see how rough the water was, and he became afraid…Thinking that he might sink. He cried out:

“Lord, save me!”

Jesus stretched out His hand and caught Peter… just in time.

“Oh, you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

But out of all the disciples, Peter was the only one that even attempted to walk on the water toward Jesus.

The Pastor today said that Peter later became the first preacher of the gospel and that 3,000 were saved under his teaching.

This proves that trusting Jesus can make our lives greater than we could ever imagine.

The day that Jesus first helped Peter not to sink, might have been when Jesus first saw how Peter’s life could be used in the future for Gods glory.

1 John 4:9–10

“The love of God was manifested toward us. God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

That means Jesus paid the price for our sin. He’s the only one that could.

We are no longer an enemy of God when we put our faith and trust in Him…instead, we become a friend of God when we choose to walk with him.

We have exchanged our identity for His.

The only sin Jesus will ever experience is ours —

The only righteousness we will ever experience is His.

We are Justified by faith.

This means that when God the Father looks at us, He sees us covered by the blood of His son. We are reconciled — Jesus paid for all of our sin…we are no longer an enemy but a friend.

We have full access to God in Christ.

God can use our lives in spite of us.

He has redeemed us.

The biblical translation of REDEEMED means:

Purchasing a slave with the view towards giving him his Freedom.

He bought you with His blood.

You are free to be who He wants you to be.

Step out of the “boat” and walk with Him Authentically

EnJOY a fulfilling relationship with —

JESUS, OTHERS, YOURSELF.

Even if we walk with a “little” Faith God can use our life…Just reach for His hand, hold on and He will walk with you.

Enjoy this old song as a great reminder…Listen closely to the words as it speaks of how God walks with us:
