Summary

The author expresses joy and humor upon being invited to contribute to a new publication called "Woodworkers of the World Unite," playing with the words "would," "could," and "should," and the German word "Mit" (with), while also making a pun on "waking up with wood."

Abstract

The article titled "Waking Up With Would" begins with the author's delight at a new opportunity. The author has been invited to be a substitute writer for a publication named "Woodworkers of the World Unite," which is referred to as a "new pub." The text plays with language, particularly the modal verbs "would," "could," and "should," and the German word "Mit," which means "with." The author reflects on the way these words interacted in their thoughts, likening it to a dance. They acknowledge the potential for confusion but embrace it, intending to improve upon this initial contribution. The piece is self-aware, with the author anticipating the reader's expectation of a more straightforward lumber-related story and instead delivering a playful take on the theme.

Opinions

  • The author is pleased about joining the "Woodworkers of the World Unite" publication and is aware of the challenge of meeting expectations.
  • There is a sense of humor and lightheartedness in the author's approach to writing, as evidenced by the pun on "waking up with wood."
  • The author seems to enjoy wordplay and the mental exercise of intertwining different languages and meanings, as shown by the inclusion of the German word "Mit" and the play on homonyms/synony

Waking Up With Would

And boy am I happy!

And who wouldn’t be? :-) Photo by ŞULE MAKAROĞLU on Unsplash

I’ve been waking up with would

Who even knew I could

Be part of a new pub

And I’ve been asked to sub

Mit^ this one … I think I should.

^”Mit” is German for “with.”

Words just dance around in my head sometimes. So it was with “would,” “could,” and “should.” This is an attempt to make something of the mental tango that was a happenin’.

Gives a freshly hewn meaning to “Waking up with wood” huh?

Science Duuude kindly asked me to write a little something for his excellent pub “Woodworkers of the World Unite.” So I thought I’d lead with something disappointing and difficult to understand, but still having a little something to do with lumber (or at least a homonym/synonym combo platter for lumber). That way if ScienceDuuude ever again makes the mistake of soliciting a story from me it’ll all be up from here. 😃
