MEDIUM
Wait, New Writers! It’s Not Over After You Hit The Publish Button!
There’s much more to it

You know the scenario. You hit the publish button and close the lid to your laptop. Hey, what are you doing? Your job is not done!
You need to promote your story. This is especially important if you just started your journey on Medium as a new writer. Who knows you published anything if you don’t share it with the world?
Since I’ve been on Medium for 8 months, I’m not considered new anymore.
But I still do all of the following to promote my stories as much as I can. As a new writer, it would be crucial to do this as well.
Here’s What You Can Do After Publishing
Share your latest post on Twitter. It’s a great way to showcase your work with other writers. Here are some hashtags you can use.
#medium #mediumwriters #writerslife #writerslift #writing #writingcommunity
Engage
After you publish, check out stories in a similar niche. For example, if you posted something about gardening, find a publication that focuses on this. It’s a great way to meet other writers with the same passion. They will be eager to check out your profile and see what you have to say about gardening.
Make sure to clap, highlight, and leave a comment on the story. When you get your name out there as a writer, people will be interested reading your posts.
Sharing your stories in Facebook groups is a good way to start. You may want to avoid follow for follow groups because these hurt your growth. Instead, find a few groups that give you better engagement.
It’s possible to gain true followers. Here are two groups you can check out.
- New Writers Welcome
- Medium Writers

You May Also Want To Try This
I’ve heard of some writers sharing their stories on a Pinterest board. I haven’t tried this myself, but I’ve seen a lot of success stories with this.
I don’t think I have enough time to manage another platform, so I won’t promote on Pinterest for now.
Takeaway
It’s important to share your work with the writing world. As you build your content base and establish authority in your niche, people will come to know you as a writer.
It will take time to get your name out there, but once you do, people will make the effort to explore your profile and read your posts.
There is no such thing as too much promoting. Have no shame and go for it!
