Vision Boards are Full of Power
How to Create a Vision Board and Manifest Your Destiny

I have not always been a believer in the power of visualization. However, I have now learned that the ability to see yourself achieving your goals before you do is a potent tool. So, if you ask me what I appreciate most about your life right now, I would say vision boards! They allow you to create a tangible representation of your dreams and goals, making it much easier to achieve them!
Two months ago, my company eliminated my position. I was running along in auto-pilot mode, and I hit a wall. “What do I do now?” I asked myself. I took a friend’s suggestion and took some time to dream and develop ideas about where I want my life to go, using a vision board.
Spoiler alert: Creating a vision board led me to manifest the destiny I dreamed
Creating a vision board is simple enough. First, you add your wildest dreams and wishes for yourself, also known as SMART goals. And then get a canvas. Your canvas is your favorite word processing or presentation software if you want an electronic vision board. If you want a physical vision board, you need to buy a corkboard and get a printer, paper, scissors, and pushpins. In both cases, you will need to access Google Search or Pinterest.
There are lots of how-to videos for vision boards on YouTube. I used this one by Lilly Singh. In this blog post, I will share how I created my vision board after my life-changing event and began manifesting my destiny!
Sweet dreams
First, I made time one day and got to a comfortable, distraction-free place with a journal and a nice pen.
After some deep breaths and relaxation exercises to get into the right mindset, I imagined my life. Then, I decided that the vision board would contain things I wanted to be and do before the end of this year.
What is the best possible life I can imagine for myself? I consider all areas of my life that are important to me. Of course, foremost at that time was my career. Then, I contemplated my body, travel, and where I wanted to live. In hindsight, I did not include my relationships — I will add that next time. Finally, I dreamed about how these different aspects look at their best possible outcome.

After I wrote five targets I wanted to hit by the end of the year, I got SMART! For each of the goals, I added dimensions to each of them:
- Specific — What do I want to achieve? What’s in it for me? Why do I want this? Why do I have to do this now? Who is involved? Where is it located? Are there resources or other limits?
- Measurable — What will success look like when I have achieved each goal? I noted measurable targets: binary or quantifiable outcomes.
- Attainable — I brainstormed key results or interim steps I will take to lead me to the outcomes I desire. I think of these as stepping stones.
- Relevant — I needed to know that these things applied to my life here and now. Also, I tested that the goals and the interim steps were within my control to accomplish.
- Time Bound–December 2022 was the end date for all my vision board items, but some things had an earlier time limit.

So Real I Can See It!
With the ideas I chose for my first board detailed in my journal, my next stop was Google!
The pictures that represented each item were the most accurate I could find. I also looked for quotes and affirmations that spoke to me.
I created an e-mail signature for my career with my name, desired position, and the company. I found a picture of the building of the company I wanted to work for in the future. I even found a photo of their lobby.
Before I started my next job, I wanted to complete one solo vacation trip (I did it — cue the happy dance). Regarding the goal of travel, I printed the logo of the hotel where I wanted to stay, a scene from that hotel’s rooftop, and a view of the scene from one of the walking tours. I even printed pictures of myself and cut them out.

I arranged all the pictures and quotes on the corkboard with cute wooden pushpins.

The vision board hangs next to my computer, where I can see it every day.
Manifest Destiny
From the moment I hung it, I held each goal in the forefront of my mind. Each day, I was deliberate, looked at the board, and thought, “What am I doing today to make these dreams my reality?” Then, I would do at least one thing every day. And an amazing thing happened. They came true.
I am not finished yet; I have until December, after all. Still, two things are for sure:
- The reality that emerged for two of the items is different: vision board manifestations can be better than you imagined
- Two of the items have changed: we can update vision boards to match new circumstances
I believe now that creating a vision board is a powerful way we can manifest our destiny. It represents the best possible life we can imagine for ourselves. It contains things we want to be, do, or have. And like a roadmap, it helps us to get there incrementally with action steps. Focusing on our desires attracts those desires to us.

I encourage you to try it for yourself and see what happens! If you do, please share your story in the comments below. And if you enjoyed this post, please share it with a friend.
Postscript: Celebrating the Manifestation
After items began to come true on the board, I tacked pictures of the dream-come-true over the respective item in the vision board. In my journal, I also started a gratitude log for this journey.
