Viel Fache Reibung
Multiple Friction in German
My husband speaks German. I don’t, not much, anyway.
He earned an undergraduate and a master’s degree in German years ago. Interestingly enough, those degrees paved the way for him to have all sorts of jobs. His latest job is as one of the partners for The Alameda Post, an online newspaper for Alameda, California. He specializes in history articles. He’s also got irons in the fire for all sorts of things, including documentaries and new books.
Years ago, part of his schooling was when he attended classes at The University of Munich. He told me a story that one time for a test, he did not know the answer to a question.
So, he answered it with “Multiple Friction,” which, of course, was a wrong answer. In German, it would be Viel Fache Reibung. Viel is pronounced Feel. The instructor was so amused that he gave Dennis a pass for the question.
