What’s in a name…

Did you catch that dear reader? There, in the screenshot? Yes, Marina is awesome, but that’s not what I’m referring to. No, I am not a “highly emotional people.” I’m a highly emotional individual, but that’s beside the point. No, not the Uber Eats credit either (I’m still craving those missing mini tacos). Right there in the middle:

this message is for Victoria.

This marks the first voicemail I have received as Victoria.

So affirming!

But what’s happening on Monday, I hear you ask through my dedicated network of transgender spies and sophisticated surveillance equipment.

Great question!

Now allow me to ignore you completely and take a moment to expound on choosing my name first. One of the perks of being transgender, ignoring reader questions, oh, and name choosing!

Victoria

I chose this name for a few reasons, the first being a personal matter I’d rather not disclose at this time to maintain some anonymity. Feel free to message me if we’re friends and I’ll fill you in. And if we’re not friends, there’s no time like the present to make a new one!

The second reason is minor, but a crucial part nonetheless. There was a girl in elementary school named Victoria and I was always jealous of her name. That simple.

Thirdly, is the meaning of the name itself. Victoria, in Latin, means conquest, triumph, victory. Accepting myself as transgender and coming out certainly feels like a triumphant victory!

So what happens on Monday?

I have my first HRT appointment! I booked my hormone replacement therapy date a month ago and it has been the longest month of my life. For more information on what HRT entails or why I need to do this, please see this resource:

And here for more of my journey:

E-minus three days till liftoff…

See what I did there, clever, I know.

Elated regards,

Victoria 💜
