Versions of the Day

Rewriting the day, trying to make it better

As I crawl into bed and lay down my weary head, I often find that I replay the highlights of my day.

And every time I find there’s a room inside my mind where I rewrite my every word and every action that occurred.

Never happy with my lot nor thankful for the things I’ve got, I wish to craft alternate plays and different versions of my day.

The stupid thing I said that’s repeating in my head will be deleted from the script of my perfect day. The scene is clipped

and edited to make it better, analyzing every letter of every word I ever speak, subjected to my harsh critique.

I want the opportunity to make the day what I wanted to be, but circumstances intervened, and imperfections came between

myself and everything I planned. So I try to keep the upper hand, imagining a different way; where I’d lived the best version of the day.
