Mythical goddess at the beach—graffiti-style.

Venus, the mythical Goddess of Love, is reborn on the artsy shores of Venice Beach (California). Her iconic 15th-century pose and flowing tresses vibe with modern beach hipsters, graffiti street artists, and tourists.

In the 1480s, Italian Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli paints the Birth of Venus. Fully grown, the newborn goddess floats onto shore while standing in a giant scallop shell. Her handmaid (right) arrives with a floral cloak for the naked goddess.

The hip goddess’ thought bubble “History Is Myth” stirs my curiosity. Modern myths in life persist.
