Value Your Connection To Creativity
Using our forms of expression to love & heal ourselves & others
Some of us are writers, painters, photographers, chefs, musicians, designers, sketchers, instructors, teachers, philanthropists, professionals, athletes, techies, historians, producers, actors, directors, curators, visionaries, executives, leaders, travelers, healers, counselors, and you name it.
No matter how uncreative we think we might be, we are all creators in our unique ways. The way we create is how we make our contributions to the present and future world; it’s also how we release and express ourselves.
I used to think I wasn’t creative because I didn’t see writing as a creative art. Later on, I realized that whether I’m a writer, entrepreneur, techie, teacher, sister, daughter, niece, mother, partner, etc., these are all avenues through which I can utilize creative energy to express my being in another form.
Our creativity is also a form of love that can heal ourselves and others. The more we engage with our creative selves, the more in tune we can be with our souls and the people that fill up the world around us.
Melody Beattie shares a story in the book “The Language of Letting Go” of a guy that used to love taking pictures as a kid. One day, his father smashed his camera and told him that taking pictures was nonsense. That man stopped taking pictures for two decades. He decided to break through that barrier one day, though and started retaking pictures. He couldn’t stop. He tapped back into his creative connection, which healed past parts of himself and those who would come to view his photography.
Never underestimate the power of creativity.
