Vaccine Mandates are Dangerous
More So When You Have Autoimmune Issues.
For almost two years, Covid has caused havoc around the world. It is a scary thing, because we know so little about it and there are just no solid studies on it, because it’s so new. And so political.
Vaccine mandates are a hot topic that has two very divided points of view. You are for vaccine mandates or against them. Neither of which is wrong.
Many believe that they should force everyone to vaccinate against covid, because after all, we have an entire list of other vaccination requirements, so this really is no different.
But it is.
When the polio vaccine became a standard part of vaccination, polio became all but eradicated in the US and other countries with widespread vaccination.
Those who get the covid vaccine can still get Covid, and can still spread it. And what’s worse is that because of the vaccine, they can get it, and not know that they have it.
With zero symptoms and the vaccine giving a false sense of security, they can easily spread it to the most vulnerable of our population.
But let’s talk about those with auto immune issues.
If you don’t have them, you are lucky.
If you do, you totally understand the vaccine fear.
There are over 80 auto-immune diseases, and they affect and estimated 24 million people in the US.
Our immune system is the body’s defense system against illness and disease, but sometimes that system goes crazy. Instead of attacking disease and illness, it attacks the body. Rheumatoid arthritis, for example, attacks the joints, eyes, and organs.
Vaccines are quite essential for this demographic… and also quite dangerous. For the normal person, there is always a slight chance of an allergy or adverse reaction to a vaccine. Those risks are amplified when you have a faulty immune system. Because it can decide to attack anything, good or bad.
To those with auto immune issues, it’s like a lottery. Will this vaccine help me? Or will it send my body into chaos? Our immune system doesn’t react normally. So there is a 50/50 chance of either result.
So, as a person with auto immune issues, I have to weigh the pros and cons of each vaccine that I take. Not because I have an allergy, which would easily exempt me from the vaccine. But because I never know how my body will respond.
I chose not to get a flu shot, but got a pneumonia vaccine. Why? because haven’t had the flu in 3 decades, but pneumonia had tried to kill me every year for 16 years. The last time, before I got vaccinated, resulted in sepsis and organ failure. (The pneumonia vaccine is normally age restricted, which is why I didn’t get it sooner. They finally made an exception because I got it so often.). The pros outweighed the risks.
But this time the pros don't out weigh the risks. I have already had covid. It sucked, but being sick always does. For me it was not even close to as bad as pneumonia was for me.
Some early studies show that covid antibodies are stronger than a vaccine. And preliminary testing shows that getting vaccinated, after having covid actually reduces/weakens your natural antibodies. They are also doing studies to see if the opposite is true. That vaccines are stronger than natural immunity. Its just too early to tell.
But one thing for sure is that it is causing issues for people like me, with autoimmune issues. And they don't want anyone to know that…
I am in an online support group for RA. It has over 28,000 members. And almost daily there are vaccine horror stories about how their body didn’t react appropriately to the vaccine. Causing serious and painful side effects. But as soon as those posts get too many “me too’s”, they are pulled. Not by the group admins, and not by the original poster. No one actually knows why or who is removing them.
We aren’t talking about being sick for a day or two, feeling under the weather, having a sore arm, or a rash at the injection sight.
I am talking about: Blood clots, heart issues, head to toe painful hives, women’s periods changing drastically (like stopping completely or bleeding for months at a time), woman in menopause that have started bleeding again, Bells palsy, Guillain-Barre syndrome, and the list goes on and on. And these are serious and lasting side effects, not ones that disappear in a day or two.
When you have an overactive immune system, you do not know how it will react to a vaccine. We have no actual allergy, but still have a high risk for side effects. They take none of this into consideration when discussing mandatory vaccines. Everyone gets a shot. Period. No discussions.
I can’t opt out for medical reasons because there is no “reason” other than the possibility of a bad side effect. Which, in theory, everyone has. And that isn’t legit enough for the government.
It is time that everyone understands medical issues are not one size fits all. What is good for me may not be for you. And what works for you could actually be dangerous to me. Even if we have the exact same health issues.
Medical issues should be discussed with your doctor(s) and no one else.
