Paper Poetry Prompt Week 12
Useful Beauty
Ekphrastic poem

All you see is the tall waving sunflower Eye-popping yellow Head full of seeds and color Sunny, bright-looking great But wait, the flower will not be there long As a useful beauty It blooms but one time The birds and the bees will eat and drink The delectable seeds will be roasted and consumed Strong unique coffee will stain your tongue Or do you prefer the sunflower tea? The oil is so smooth and delicious The roots and shoots are delightful While being destroyed bit by bit That bright happy face will continue to smile at you Not showing the losses, the no new sunflowers When torn down and taken in The happy face does not diminish Flour, meal, milk and paste all sunflower based Cook the shoots, eat the greens Until there is nothing left Nothing left but the memory Of the big bright and beautiful sunflower Beautiful, bold, lovely, and gone
