Useful Advice That Made Me a Top Writer in Extremely Competitive Tags Here In Only A Month
It’s easier than you think
There were many articles on the internet that gave tips and suggestions on how you can be a top writer, but I think the advice that really helped me was:
- Include one top writer tag and choose the others tags that do not have a lot of stories tagged to them. If you are not sure about what I mean, check out How Not to Tag Your Stories by Liz Porter. The summary is when you choose tags on the publish page, do not go for the highest number shown because that is not the number of followers, but the number of stories tagged with that tag. So, Startup(443K) means that there are 443K stories tagged Startup, not 443K followers for that tag.
- Promoting your articles on social media like Twitter and Linkedin. Even if you have a modest amount of followers, every view and read counts. I went as far as making a company page on LinkedIn just for this reason. The best part is it's free and you can promote if you ever wanted to.
- Mix up your content and use both Short Form and Long Form types. I am sure you know what is long-form content and as for what short-form content is, check out Supercharge your writing with AI and Solution for FOMO on Opportunities. Don’t forget to tag them correctly. I am not sure, but I think exploring short-form content type helped me the most in getting the Top Writer Tags in Startup and Innovation.
- Always publish in a publication, it can big or small. Always publish in a publication so that you can stand a bigger chance of getting curated. I started my publication, and I got curated much more when I published in my publication even if it's a budding one.
