Use Your Best Asset That No One Can Destroy
The worst only happens if you let it.

Four days ago, I was down for the count. This was right before my wedding anniversary and Christmas. That is one I don’t wish on anyone.
I had a cold, and it lasted longer than the usual one day sickness I get. When I am sick, it is rare.
This was probably the first time in close to a decade if you don’t include when I got COVID a year or two ago.
You see, I don’t like to get sick.
In fact, I take pride that I don’t get sick.
When I went to school as a kid, I was one of those students who received the perfect attendance award a few times.
Somehow I managed to get through this recent sickness, but it prevented me from doing more than I wanted to.
I had to cancel my anniversary dinner with my wife.
I didn’t write as much as I wanted to.
I had little patience dealing with my kids so it wasn’t good to be in their shoes.
On a good note, I slept more and probably needed the extra hours of sleep.
It gave me some time to think.
Thinking is something you need to do from time to time. It helps you to imagine how you’ll deal with the daily activities you’ll see.
As you’re coming on a new year, you need to plan how you’ll win.
Even though COVID cases were down this year, getting the virus was probably the last thing on your mind.
But as you’ve seen, this year was dealing with higher prices on just about everything you wanted or needed. Next year could be a little similar even though inflation is down from its painfully high rates.
Time to play chess, not checkers
A new year will be a challenging year.
Every year is meant to be a fresh start and a new beginning.
No one can forget the disaster of the year 2020.
- Lives were lost
- Kids went to school online
- People lost their jobs
- Others worked from home
Panic was in the air.
So as you head into a new year, go in with an open mind. Challenges still exist. This next year will be different though.
No one knows exactly what you’ll see.
Everyone has their prediction which is a good guess.
The wars in Israel and Ukraine continue as you end this year. They’ll likely continue for some time in the new year.
I’m not 100% back to normal, but getting there. So heading into the new year should be good for me.
This will allow me to rely on my best asset — my brain. Your brain can do some much more than you ever imagined.
Don’t let it go to waste.
Sure, you want to catch the latest movie in theaters or streaming, but that is a substitute for taking you out of reality. Reality is out there waiting for you.
Go into the new year with an open mind and prepare for a new challenge. The challenge is waiting for you to conquer it.
Don’t let the challenge knock you back on your butt for a miserable year.
Only you can control that.
