Use this formula to finish your write ups

It can be challenging to finish a piece of work but let me help you make it less challenging.

I have drafts of work on my laptop and every day I get worried I am unable to finish the tasks. I have three books I am working on; one is done halfway, the other is 60 per cent done, and the last one is 30 per cent done. Every time I think about how much time and work I needed to give to these books, I cringe.

Here is how I solved the problem.

Most writers have a formula for writing but my method for writing (guess I will write on this one day) helps me with my structure. So when I write I consider the following in my writing;

Definitions — I look at the chapter I want to write, and I think about whether I need to define the word I aim to discuss for better understanding. I expand and explain the definition for clarity sake.

Quotes — I look for quotes that best suits the context of what I am writing on. Quotes are capsules of wisdom that when used, they may give you deep insights.

Data — If I needed to prove numbers, I looked for statistics which affirms my write up and buttresses the points I am trying to make.

Books — I read other person’s books and articles on the subject I am working on to provide in-depth information for my readers.

History — I consider any history on the subject matter. We all know what history does. History gives you an insight into the event of the past, and it somewhat helps you make assumptions or conclusions on the present.

Lessons — I write on the lessons I want my readers to pick from the work. I can use the stories of people around me to teach whatever lessons I want to pass across.

Problems — I write about the problem I am trying to solve. People need to be aware of the problem or issues in the article and possible solutions. I am very much aware that most personal development write-ups and self-help books are centred on solving a particular problem.

Whenever I am trying to finish my book or an article, I look at the points I have above.

If I have not fulfilled any of the points, I start to write and fill the gap missing. If I have written a section that needs to be backed up with a quote or data, I immediately back it up with relevant information required. I get to finish my books and write-ups this way, especially whenever I face the challenge of finishing.

The truth is, it can get messy, especially when I am writing an intricate work. I am sure you have a writing style and technique. Use your writing style to finish up with the works you have set out for yourself.
