Summary

The undefined website presents the 4A Framework, a method for generating diverse content by categorizing topics into Actionable, Analytical, Anthropological, and Aspirational segments.

Abstract

The undefined website outlines a content creation strategy known as the 4A Framework, which is designed to help writers, particularly those on Medium, overcome writer's block and consistently produce engaging content. The framework divides content into four categories: Actionable articles that guide readers through processes; Analytical pieces that delve into data and reasoning; Anthropological writings that explore the human aspect and emotional impact of topics; and Aspirational content that inspires readers to achieve their goals. The article emphasizes that by using this framework, writers can dissect a broad topic into more focused pieces, potentially increasing their content's reach and virality. The author also suggests that combining different elements of the 4A Framework can enhance the appeal of the content, providing examples of how this might be done in the context of health and fitness.

Opinions

  • The author believes that the 4A Framework can significantly reduce the struggle of content ideation by providing clear, replicable categories for content creation.
  • The article posits that Analytical content, while requiring more effort, can yield substantial reader engagement and credibility due to its research-backed nature.
  • There is an opinion that Anthropological content should evoke strong emotions and address human nature, which can resonate deeply with the audience.
  • The author is confident that by applying the 4A Framework, writers can not only produce more content but also replicate the success of their best-performing articles.
  • The author encourages readers to engage with the content by following, applauding, and continuing the conversation on social media, indicating a belief in the value of community feedback and support.

Use one simple framework to generate endless amounts of content

As a writer on Medium, there are few worse things than sitting down in front of your laptop and facing a blank screen. What are you going to write about today?

Let me talk you through a system that will help you avoid that feeling. In fact, if you replicate this system with your most successful content, then you’ll be in a position where you’ll be able to replicate your earnings in a thousand different ways.

The system is called the 4A Framework and is pretty simple to follow.

It breaks down any topic into four different buckets. In alphabetical order:

  • Actionable (here’s how I did something)
  • Analytical (here are the numbers behind what I’m saying)
  • Anthropological (here’s why what I’m writing about is important)
  • Aspirational (I did it, you can too!)

Let’s look at each of these buckets individually.

Actionable

These are articles that are usually step-by-step guides to achieving something.

In other words, an Actionable article should offer its readers insight into being successful at something that they didn’t have before.

Analytical

This kind of article tends to take a bit more work but can reward you with a lot of impressions and feedback.

When it comes to writing Analytical articles, you want to dig into the numbers, examples and reasons behind why you’re writing the article that you are.

Research is also key, so be sure to include links to specific papers or websites that back up your belief.

The idea here is to convince your readers that your way of thinking is correct and to, perhaps, win them over to your own beliefs.

Anthropological

This type of writing speaks to the ‘good’ in your writing. You’ll want to focus on why something is the way that it is and the impact that it has on human nature.

Anthropological writing tends to be more emotive than you’ll find in other types of articles so expect to find language that involves fear, anger, frustration and hardship.

It’s everywhere

It’s one of those things. Once you’ve got a grip on the 4A Framework, you see it everywhere.

Just going to the ‘Business’ book section on Amazon, I’m immediately greeted with these best-sellers:

  • $100m Leads (Actionable)
  • How the leaders of tomorrow can learn from the leaders of today (Analytical)
  • Clear Thinking (Anthropological)
  • Good to Great (Aspirational)

How does this work in action?

Starting to employ this framework is pretty straightforward. Simply take a broad topic that you write about and start to break your articles down into the buckets above.

You can even start to combine the buckets together — that’s where you really start to multiply your chances of going viral or getting that important boost on Medium.

For example, let’s say we’re writing about health. We might want to combine buckets in the following way:

Aspirational + Anthropological

  • I used to hate my body. Here’s how I overcame that — and you can too!

Aspirational + Actionable

  • I got ripped at the gym in just two months — here’s how you can do the same before Christmas.

Actionable + Analytical

I’ve done 1000 squats. Here’s why they’re the best exercise for your overall help (along with a step-by-step guide to make sure your own form is spot on!)

Conclusion

The 4A Framework allows you to generate multiple pieces of content from a single idea.

This is great for re-generating high-performing long-form articles on Medium as well as a number of short-form posts on social media.

One last thing

If you found the article above useful, then there are three things you can do to support my writing:

  1. Hit those clapping hands so that other people with your interests will become aware of it. Hopefully, they’ll find it useful too
  2. Follow me here on Medium so that you become the first to know when similar content is posted
  3. Carry on the conversation. Either leave me a message here or get in touch on Twitter/X or Mastodon. I promise I’ll get back to you!
