Summary

Destiny, an author, uses criticism from her workout partner about not working out together on leg days to motivate herself to improve her leg workouts.

Abstract

Destiny, who focuses on upper body workouts, faces criticism from her leg-dominant workout partner due to their unsynchronized schedules, which the partner interprets as Destiny avoiding leg workouts. Despite the sting of the accusation, Destiny chooses to use this negative feedback constructively, finding motivation to push herself harder on leg days. She shares a lesson learned from this experience: rather than taking criticism personally, one can leverage it to make positive changes in life. Negative feedback is viable

My workout partner is leg-dominant. I’m upper body dominant. Lately, our schedules haven’t been syncing, so we work out less together.

She noticed our schedules no longer sync up on leg days (her favorite workout day); hence, she believes this is the case so I can get away with weak-ass leg workouts. It stung a bit when she said this, even though I knew it wasn’t true (reason: schedule conflicts). However, I found a way to utilize her criticism as motivation to push harder on leg days as if she were there.

Lesson: Instead of getting oversensitive when people make jabs at you, use their criticism to improve your life in some way.
