Uplift your Thoughts, Transform your Life: Positive Affirmation

Are you in charge of your thoughts or are they in charge of you?
How much of the time that you spend focused on yourself involves taking the steps that will serve in shifting your reality? How much of that time involves thinking and no action?
In order to be all that we desire to be or to learn those things that we wish to learn, it’s necessary to stop doing things as we’ve been doing them up until now and experiment with a different way.
Are you in the habit of thinking thoughts that uplift, or thoughts that weigh you down?
Are you thinking of how Sam wronged you last week, or are you feeling compassion for him because he doesn’t yet have the awareness to treat you any differently than he did? Are you thinking of how much more you can ‘get,’ … more money, jewelry, cars, a hotter body — or are you focused on how you can share with another person who has less than you do at this moment in time? Are you thinking about what a ‘loser’ you are or are you focused on what you can do to make yourself a better, kinder, more loving individual, and taking the steps that’ll help you uplift your spirit so that your actions are in alignment with your intentions?
There will always be a time when you are the person who has less, who isn’t as smart or as beautiful. Whether it be money, success, brains, beauty, strength, know-how … all of us will face times of success in worldly terms and times of failure. No matter what our definitions of success and failure are, this is universal truth.
How can we begin to work with the content and quality of our thoughts so that we can tune into a consciousness that infuses them with Light, inspiring us in new directions?
Here’s a simple exercise: Start by utilizing any negative thoughts as they arise. Observe that pernicious little thought right in its tracks. For example: if you catch yourself thinking of the next mundane task you have planned for the day, and you are thinking in a downward pulling direction, i.e., ‘This is going to be hard, I don’t want to do it, I don’t like doing laundry, cleaning the house or scooping Mugsy’s poo from the yard,’ observe it. You are creating your very next moment and weighing it down from the get-go. It hasn’t happened yet, so why be such a wet blanket? Instead, say to yourself, ‘I will feel good when I have completed this task, and I can check it off my list. Afterward, I can reward myself by doing something that I enjoy.’
This exercise is simple, it’s fun and it works! If you have friends that’ll practice with you — its even more fun because you can usually decipher what the original thought was. For example, let’s say that Marcus starts speaking of how very thin he is … it is fairly clear what he is really thinking … and in this way, it can be quite comedic — well … amongst true friends, that is.
Make it a game. If you catch yourself saying how fat you are, shift that thought. Instead, say to yourself, ‘I am beautiful dammit. I am becoming thinner everyday,’ or ask your beautiful body to let go of any excess weight because ‘you are taking care of it.’ This, of course, is not to advocate ignoring the reality you are currently experiencing, rather it is shared as a reminder. Move yourself and your thoughts in the direction that matches the reality you wish to be experiencing.
Help your friends keep upward moving thoughts by being positive yourself! Think thoughts that inspire, thoughts that make everyone feel lighter and more joyful! Tune in to the highest vibration of thought that you can in each moment. With practice, you will find yourself feeling much more positive, even uplifted! This way, when you are faced with some of life’s more difficult experiences you’ll be much more capable of working with them and of remaining calm and centered in the process.
This exercise may feel a bit goofy at first, however, after a time it helps you feel much lighter. It also serves in freeing you up so you can walk in the direction of your choosing, and with less over-all dissonance. This is all about learning to shift into higher vibrations of experiencing life, of be-ing truly present in each moment.
Which vibration of experiencing do you want to participate in today?
Exercise: Observe your thoughts throughout the day. When a negative thought pops in, be aware of it and replace it with a positive thought, word, or more importantly a vibration that helps you to feel positive. Affirm that thought or word, tune into the vibration of thought/feeling that you do want to actively participate in. Try listening to some music that uplifts you. No matter what, teach yourself how to cease in that negative pattern of thought until a new groove is formed that replaces your old way of reacting and/or responding to life and the world. It works. Cheers!
