Summary

The Storyteller's Vault has updated its submission guidelines effective November 1, 2022, for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction works in response to writing prompts, emphasizing the importance of following specific rules for publication.

Abstract

The Storyteller's Vault, a publication platform for aspiring writers, has revised its submission guidelines to streamline the publication process and maintain content quality. Writers are required to follow the publication and respond to writing prompts, either from The Storyteller's Vault or other Medium publications, by linking back to the prompt within their draft submissions. Submissions must be original drafts and appropriately tagged with categories such as "poetry," "fiction," or "nonfiction," and the specific tag "Writing Prompt Journey" if in response to a Vault prompt. The guidelines stress proper photo crediting from Creative Commons sources, a limit of two submissions per day, and the necessity for writers to proofread their work to avoid rejection due to excessive errors. The publication aims to foster a supportive writing community, adhere to Medium's rules and terms of service, and encourage a safe space for writers to flourish.

Opinions

  • The publication values community engagement and encourages writers to support each other's work.
  • There is an emphasis on maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, with a strict no-tolerance policy for hate speech.
  • The guidelines suggest a preference for quality over quantity, with a focus on well-crafted and edited pieces.
  • The publication is committed to rapid response times for submissions, aiming to publish within 48 hours.
  • There is an encouragement for readers to become Medium members, which supports the writers and the platform financially.

Welcome to The Storyteller’s Vault!

The Storyteller’s Vault publishes poetry, fiction, and nonfiction works that are written in response to prompts from the Writing Prompt Journey.

If you would like to be a writer, please comment on this post and include your username so we can add you.

When submitting writing to The Storyteller’s Vault, please follow the guidelines below. These have been updated as of November 1, 2022, so please refer to these new guidelines when submitting your work:

  • You must be following this publication.
  • Prompted Posts. Your posts must be in response to a prompt (either a prompt from this publication, but a prompt from another Medium publication is allowed as well). You must link back to the prompt you have used within your post.
  • Drafts. All submissions must be in draft form (not previously published). This is to ensure your writing gets as much attention as possible, since Medium sorts posts by date published.
  • Tags. All submissions must be tagged with either “poetry”, “fiction”, or “nonfiction” to ensure they are categorized correctly within the publication. IF your writing is in response to one of The Storyteller’s Vault’s writing prompts, please also include the tag “Writing Prompt Journey”. Do not use the tag “writing prompt,” as this will sort you into the wrong category and make things all messy ☺
  • Be sure to accurately credit every photo used in your posts. Use Creative Commons sites only and be sure to follow the requirements for crediting as per the individual licensing agreements.
  • Please do not submit more than two pieces of writing a day. We will aim to publish all works within 48 hours. Some may go up faster, but please be patient while we grow.
  • Please proofread your work, as we will not be doing hard edits. If time permits, we may suggest edits or provide feedback before publishing.
  • Excessive spelling or grammar errors may result in rejection.
  • Please no erotica in this publication at this time.
  • Excessively explicit writing may be rejected or requested to be changed a bit.
  • No hate speech of any kind.
  • Make sure to follow the most up-to-date Medium rules and TOS.

Our Goals

  • To create a supportive community of writers and readers! Please spend some time reading, sharing, and supporting each other’s work, as that will help all of us to grow while doing what we love.
  • To create a safe space where we all feel encouraged to write more. It’s what we love doing, so I hope this publication makes it easier to spend more time doing what we love. I will be highlighting, clapping, and commenting to show my support for all the talent and hard work!

Thank you for reading this all the way to the end! I can’t wait to see all your posts!
