Update on my Newsbreak experience!

Andrew Neel

Ten days later and over 500K impressions made on my articles, I have finally become eligible to apply to be monetized on the Newsbreak app! I gotta say, the road there was rough for me at times and the editors sure didn’t make it easy either!

I stuck to my other passion and made spirituality and the practices I use as my niche. I saw that it was welcomed by the positive feedback I received from my readers. I also noticed that the topics I wrote about on that subject were rarely written about by other contributors. That definitely helped me stand out and grab readers' attention.

Not too long before I began this process, Newsbreak changed its editorial policies. The bots they use for click bait deterrence and plagiarism checking were problem some most of the time. I’d almost always have my article flagged even though my content was always original and from personal experiences. The site is very buggy too! I literally would argue with staff almost daily defending my work because I refused to go down without a fight!

It was very refreshing to not have to promote my article everywhere I can to obtain more views, unlike what I do for Medium. I also found that the experience of writing for Newsbreak was way more enjoyable than when I write on here! I didn’t feel as if I needed to push my writing on others, but instead it was welcomed and embraced. I had a few haters in my comments, but the positive engagement I received outshined them.

Now I must wait for my application to be approved which may take up to 30 days and I will be impatiently waiting until I hear something. Wish me luck you guys and if you aren’t satisfied on this platform and want to try something new, I highly recommend Newsbreak as an alternative!
