POETRY
Unmoved
George Floyd’s death anniversary echoes the hollowness of antipathy
Unmoved as a motorized cog a blunt baton, insurgent to sorrow, unresponsive to gripped bystanders — droning against their hardened badges — pressing, muzzling unhurried and unhectic against a pleading native throat.
Beneath their bastion of boots, banded as a stiffened knee, invalidating a lineage of inhuman servitude, collapsing his passageway, closing another pathway to respiring liberties.
Listless and unmoving — inert to enslaver — permanently emancipated of everything.
