Unleash the Power in You to Get Things Done
Recondition your subconscious mind to match your new self

We all have things we want to do to take our lives to the next level to keep putting off for intangible reasons. I find myself in a position like this sometimes. And you do too? Don’t you? You do!
You wonder why you don’t like it, but you keep on doing it. Because deep down within your soul, you know what you’ve been putting off is the one thing that could help you change your life for the better. But as to the reason why you keep putting it off, you can’t understand why.
Well, if you’re in a position like that, I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone. All of us, in one way or the other, go through such an experience.
But in as much as we all go through this experience, some of us don’t let it get the best part of us and derail us from the things we have to do.
Here is what you can do to break from that cycle.
Decide What to Do and Stick to Your Decision
Our inability to get things done most of the time and find ourselves procrastinating is simply by indecision. In that, by not being able to make decisions, we make ourselves stuck in one place.
When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision. — Paul Coelho, The Alchemist
So when you decide to do something, you put your energy in motion to get things done. It’s one of the few ways to overcome procrastination and do what you need to do.
Often, most people don’t get things done even after the decision because they don’t get to be a bit hard on themselves. When it comes to this, I know some people will tell you it’s not fair to be hard on yourself.
But trust me, since your subconscious conditioning is such that it wouldn’t make you do the things that will help you become that person you want to become, if you don’t be hard on yourself sometimes, you won’t get things done.
Yes, you can be flexible at times, but you need to be a bit hard on yourself to stay focused and get your things done.
Prioritize and Schedule Things With a Deadline
Another reason most people fail to do the things they are supposed to do is the lack of priority and schedule. And by that, they become overwhelmed, which paralyzed them mentally and put things off instead of doing.
To get yourself out of this overwhelming zone, you must prioritize things and give your attention to it. By doing so, you’ll get the result you want in your life and do away with those that won’t serve you, and allow serenity in your mind.
Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least. — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Also, scheduling things with deadlines can help you get things done. As after your prioritization, if you don’t plan things and give it a time frame by which you’ll do it, you’ll definitely struggle to complete your tasks.
I used to experience a similar experience of being overwhelmed with things due to the lack of priority and schedule deadlines. Then after realizing the fact, I decided to act and get things done.
It helped me to regain my focus and get things done within the time-frame.
Whatever You Do, Don’t Do This
There’s nothing to get you off things you have to do to take your life to the next level than telling yourself negative stories and using disempowering words when you don’t do what you have to do.
Never tell yourself negative stories like the followings:
I’m not good enough. I’m incapable of doing the things that I said I’ll do. When I say something, I don’t do it. I’m not a better person.
All these harsh, cynical, and disempowering stories tell yourself that you put yourself down in getting things done. When it becomes a part of your subconscious mind, it gets you to sabotage yourself all the time, and it results in low self-esteem, which makes you think you’re not good enough to get things done.
You must avoid all these negative self-talk in all your ways to get what you need to do. Replace it with the following positive and empowering ones even if you procrastinate.
I’m enough. I’m a doer. When I say things, I do it. I take action on my goals. I’m capable of doing everything to which I set my mind.
As you get to tell yourself these things, your subconscious mind picks it up. Consequently, you’ll indeed become an action taker and overcome procrastination.
The Psychology of Getting Things Done
The secret of getting things done is to act. — Dante Alighieri
There’s only one way to get things done irrespective of everything. And it’s all about ‘just doing it.’
In that, from my own experience, the more I’ve told myself that I’m going to do something and I don’t do it straight away but try to contemplate too much on it, I don’t do it all.
Conversely, when I go straight to it and act, I get it done.
I believe there’s a psychological effect to this. As you want to do something and you don’t go straight to it, you try to ponder on it. And your brain gives you reasons why you should put it on hold and do it later. That’s where the procrastination comes in.
If you have something to do and it hits in the head, do it straight away without overthinking it.
In Conclusion
To overcome procrastination and act on the things you have to work on is strengthening your neuro muscles.
As everything is all about the mind and why most people don’t get the strength to act on their goals is their subconscious programming, you must be careful about it.
You need to recondition your subconscious mind to match your new self and the person you want to become. Decide what you want to do and then schedule it with a strict deadline to get things done.
Do not procrastinate, act now.
