Unicorn IdeaStream Writing Prompt
I’m channeling the spirit of Xavier VanHolde to lift our moods and bringing back an IdeaStream with a Unicorn twist
Time for some IdeaStream fun!
I have to take a break from the president, TBI folks. I have to recharge my batteries since this is a marathon and not a sprint. So in that spirit, let’s have some fun after I lay some truth down so you don’t forget your mission to save the world on November 3 (or earlier by mail-in voting). After all, we’ll be partying in November if things go the right way.
The serious part before the fun
We are about 100 days out from election day on November 3, 2020. We are spiraling into authoritarianism as we witness on the streets of Portland. Sarah Kendzior, Hanna Arendt and Masha Gessen have been warning us of the danger signs.
I’m seeing the danger signs.
I think other people are seeing them too. Former GOP government officials are ringing the alarm bells, the fires of authoritarianism are burning so strong.
But, this isn’t about 45 — F* Him!
This isn’t an article about our “Dear Leader” who loves his fellow authoritarian leaders.
In the spirit of Xavier VanHolde, I want to do something fun and send a writing prompt out into the world.
A writing prompt inspired by me and the messages of hope, love and optimism that I have been receiving from the universe lately.

Six Story Prompts
Write a story of any length you wish on the following story prompts:
- You receive a call from your long lost uncle’s attorney advising that you need to come back to the family hometown in Arkansas because your uncle has a big announcement. The attorney says, “Don’t worry on the trip here. Your uncle is healthy and well. He wants to bring you into the family business.”
- Debbie Carroll is the captain of the Cristal Ocelot, a luxury airship, that is on its maiden voyage from New York to Paris. As she’s flying over the Atlantic, a strange transmission comes in over the radio …
- Harding Taft is a 40-year-old virgin because his parents named him after two of the worst presidents until these present days. His mom decides to help him find a mate — you can go any sexual orientation you wish — so she sends him two tickets for a luxury cruise … To learn about Warren Harding, check out Edward Anderson’s story about the scandalous president.
- The bees decided to have a mutiny against their queen after hearing about murder hornets …
- After tech companies develop lifelike AI, people start to wonder if they’re real or if they’re also machines …
- Anything about unicorns. Bonus points if you can work in a “My Little Ponies” angle.
