Unexpected Displays of Love in the Seattle Backwoods

Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle

Random hearts. Random places. Unexpected highs.

Seattle is quite the interesting city. There is much city and there is much forest. And it is all just mushed up together. There are a lot of steep hills and roads, and both walkers and vehicles seem to have to work pretty hard just to get around. Chugging and lugging. Good exercise for the walkers. Not sure how ideal it is for the vehicles.

There are many stairways — sometimes winding, sometimes moss-covered but always acute — and a ton of interesting and picturesque pathways to walk. Full of leaves, rocks, trees, and other greenery, some of these pathways twist and wind up into the hills. I take Ruby Roux, the cute, sweet chill dog, on walks and appreciate life. I take a moment to reflect on whether I’m happy, sad, lonely, or otherwise, and I make peace with it. I think about the people I care about and whether I’m doing enough for them, and how I can do more in the future.

On one of those walks I found this random heart display. I instantly thought of Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles and her love of hearts (and smiles) as well as this story by Jillian Amatt - Artistic Voyages: Following Signs of Love Around the World. In an often dark world, we can’t have too much of this!

By the way, when it comes to my photos, I tend to be a naturalist with little to no photo editing post snap. However, sometimes I do find it a little fun to play around with filters and blur effects. What do you think? Do you like these techniques, or are you more of a naturalist as well?
