Under Irish Skies
My Favourite Place To Be
Towel upon the sand Sunshine from above Shading my blue eyes with hands Salty from the surf
Sand between my toes Shorts and Tee-shirt dressed Irish skin freckled deeply Summer’s breath undone
Playing ball and making castles Digging moats for the sea to rush in Running across the rippling dunes And on towards the sea
Raining in the morning Windy by midday Sunbathing in the evening sun All seasons in one day
Laughing with joy unleased Smiles reflected in sparkling eyes A time before worries, a time of joy Young under Irish skies.
Summer fun under iron skies Sunshine and rain Verdant hills on the horizon Under Irish skies
Growing up so long ago So innocent with friends so close In rain or shine, we laughed and played Under Irish skies
I always look back in wonder With warmth in my heart At my happy childhood Under Irish skies.
