Love and hope in difficult times
Uncouth Funeral
Freedom poem

She was laughing I did not know why This was a funeral For her dad Who molested her for years There were seven people here Not her mom, not her brothers He was one mean, mean man I was there for her, not for him I stood by her side as she laughed He held her captive even after she moved out Why was she laughing Her life was stunted She never married No children Few boyfriends Two friends Bad jobs Eventually, she took her life Yet, that day I looked into her eyes There was finally freedom there I started laughing too
Another emotional thinking prompt from Paper Poetry
The Paper Poetry prompts always make me think of the happenings in my life that I lived through without realizing they were important milestones. My friend was happy that day at her father’s funeral, and I was happy for her.
