Abstract

fferent use cases for using the French word “dans” or “en” to figure out the difference. Subtle. Another quirk of French that I had to dig back up was the line that breaks into two: “je suis poète.” I was initially inclined to throw in an “un/une” because I was unsure until I looked it up. Original version of poem had “mon cœur habite en ta tête” as the first line. I rephrased it to make it sound better with the help of Julien M.

read more: Join my email list or say hi on Twitter.

warm embrace (étreinte chaleureuse)

A poem in French and English — about comfort

mediu

un cœur en ta tête (heart in your head)

A poem in French and English — about apologies

Photo by Siora Photography on Unsplash

mon cœur vit dans ta tête, ça s’arrête, ça s’arrête. Je suis poète, mais je n’écoute pas, J’ai oublié, mon mot. Je suis, bien sot. Je regrette, much too much left in life, for us to pity, regret

English translation: my heart lives in your head, it stops, it stops. I am a poet, but I don’t listen I forgot my word I am really stupid/silly I am sorry, much too much left in life, for us to pity, regret

Writer note: This was pretty interesting to write. I had to look up different use cases for using the French word “dans” or “en” to figure out the difference. Subtle. Another quirk of French that I had to dig back up was the line that breaks into two: “je suis poète.” I was initially inclined to throw in an “un/une” because I was unsure until I looked it up.
