Summary

Emergency, a humanitarian organization, has dispatched its largest mobile clinic, the Politruck, to Moldova to provide medical and psychological assistance to the elderly, women, and children fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Abstract

In response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Emergency has sent its most substantial mobile clinic, the Politruck, to Moldova. The clinic is equipped with essential drugs and medical supplies to aid the thousands of people, primarily the elderly, women, and children, who are escaping the war. The team on board will focus on basic medical care, nursing, and psychological support, addressing the immediate healthcare needs of those affected by the conflict. They will also be prepared to manage potential COVID-19 cases and assist individuals with chronic illnesses. Andrea Bellardinelli, an Italian member of the Emergency team, emphasizes the importance of adapting to the evolving needs of the situation by using the mobile clinic to reach different locations as required. The initiative underscores the humanitarian efforts to support the victims of a war where civilians bear the brunt of the suffering.

Opinions

  • Andrea Bellardinelli expresses the necessity of leveraging the team's experience to contribute effectively to the emergency response in Ukraine.
  • The use of a mobile clinic is seen as a strategic choice to remain flexible and responsive to the dynamic needs of the conflict, allowing the team to operate in various locations.
  • There is an acknowledgment of the harsh reality that civilians, especially the most vulnerable, are paying the highest price in this war, highlighting the senseless and cruel nature of the conflict.
  • The call to support Emergency's work financially indicates a belief in the importance of collective effort and the impact of individual contributions in providing aid to those affected by the war.

As part of the war in Ukraine, the Politruck, the largest of Emergency’s mobile clinics, left today with supplies of drugs and consumables. A humanitarian organization team will be in Moldova to offer assistance to the thousands of elderly people, women, and children who are fleeing the conflict these days.

In this phase, the staff involved will deal with basic medicine and nursing, as well as provide psychological support.

“They are people who have had to abandon everything at any moment, all that is left of them is in the trolleys they drag behind them in orderly rows. We will also have to deal with assistance to the chronically ill, as well as be prepared to manage any Covid-19 outbreaks “.

This is explained by Andrea Bellardinelli, an italian member of the Emergency team who is helping people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

“We organized ourselves, we tried to understand what our contribution could be and how to put our experience at the service of this emergency. We have chosen to use the mobile clinic because we believe that in this way we will be able to operate by moving to different places, to follow the needs that the unpredictable situation of the conflict imposes on us “.

Bellardinelli concludes: “In a few days we will begin assisting the victims of yet another senseless and cruel war, where civilians always pay the highest price”. For those who wish, it is possible to support Emergency’s work to bring aid to people affected by the war in Ukraine, which began more than two weeks ago.
