Ugh! I’m Missing in Action Because of COVID!

Did you miss the daily story that I normally publish every day?

I found out I was exposed to COVID on Tuesday. It began when my adult nephew contracted it, and passed it to his mother. Her symptoms began on Monday, and we tested her on Tuesday to be sure.

I’m her care provider, so I had to continue taking care of her, and it was really hard to isolate in the same household.

Yes, I followed all the suggested methods to keep myself and her safe, but apparently masking, social distancing and vaccines are no match for Omicron.

I’m guessing that’s the variant I have, because just like it was reported, this particular strain is more contagious, though apparently not as deadly.

All I know is that this crap spreads quicker than wildfire!

What are the symptoms of the Omicron Variant

I know some of you may be wondering what symptoms of the Omicron variant look like. This variant of COVID is apparently different, when it comes to how it makes you feel.

So besides giving everyone an update on why the Daily Justiss publication has been missing in action, I thought I’d share what I noticed about the symptoms, when this happened to me. I’m also providing an update on my current condition.

Here goes…

Symptoms:

Both my nephew and my sister complained of headaches — seeming to be mostly in the upper region of the front of their heads. They also noted the lack of energy and feeling tired.

I experienced the same thing. The UNBELIEVABLE fatigue was the hardest part for me, but I also had a little unsettling feeling in my stomach, but nothing major.

Both my nephew and sister had severe coughs, but quite frankly, my sister has other health conditions that caused her coughing, even before COVID. As for my nephew, he’s a tobacco smoker, so his coughing was nothing new either.

As for me, I didn’t have any issues with coughing at all, and very minimal cold symptoms, which consisted of a slightly runny nose.

To my knowledge, none of us suffered from chills, sore throats, vomiting, or anything of that nature. My sister appeared to have some intestinal issues that kept her in the bathroom relieving herself, but that wasn’t my experience.

Care and Treatment

I doubt that my nephew did anything special to take care of himself, including trying to keep his strength up by eating or drinking fluids. But in spite of that fact, he seemed to be just fine two to three days later.

My sister is a hard case, so I tried to get her to eat saltine crackers, or a spoonful of soup or broth, but she wouldn’t listen. For the most part, she basically ate nothing, except an occasional cracker when I could get her to eat it. She also drank tea.

She felt better on day two, but appeared to have a relapse, which resulted in another headache — located in the base of the back of the head — then, she was down for yet another day — feeling really lousy. Today, around four days later, she feels better, but not entirely, but I made her eat a little soup.

As for me, on Tuesday evening when we confirmed it was COVID, I drank a glass of Vitamin C, right after the test confirmed my sister had the virus.

On Wednesday, I knew I had it. I began displaying the symptoms mentioned above. However, at some point, I forced myself to eat soup, crackers, and toast, as well as drink tea. My son brought me Theraflu and drinking it helped me sleep.

Each time I woke up, I felt a little better and a little stronger. I got up, ate what I could, aired out the house by spraying Lysol and opening windows. I collected and safely disposed of all trash, along with any lingering germs from discarded tissues.

This is my day 3 of symptoms, and I’m happy to say I’m feeling MUCH better. But even though I sat down to catch my readers up to what’s going on, I’m going to continue taking it easy. I don’t want to mess around and relapse like my sister did.

So my dear readers, in case I go M.I.A. again over the next couple of days, you’ll know why. And if anyone has submitted a story or promotion request to me, I’ll get to you as soon as I can. I might be gone momentarily, but don’t worry, I’ll be back 😄.

FUN FACT: Thanks to COVID, this is the first time I’ve gone more than 24 hours without checking my stats!
