Abstract

e higher-paying jobs. If you end up working for a minimum wage job, it may not be enough to cover your bills and you may end up taking on another job. This could all lead to your physical stress and cause burnout. It is better to look for one good well paying job, even if you have to go to trade school to get it.

Don’t get me wrong. Two Words That Rocked My World

Earn more money and get the career of your dreams!

Years ago, I attended university to study Political Science and history. While there, l practiced social skills with other students, wrote endless research papers, wrote for the student paper, and did many other things like act in a play. Thousands of dollars later, and years later, I graduated and was ready for the real world.

The real world was nothing like university. We were shoved out and somehow we had to prove to our potential employers that our university degree with no specific specialization was beneficial for corporate industries. I didn’t intend to work for any industry, and my real aim was to work for a newspaper. With no journalism degree, I settled on the school of hard knocks (life experience), and freelanced with several community papers. Where did I get the idea that I had what it took to succeed?

Thanks to a young teaching assistant, he gave me the courage to reach for the skies. He was a teaching assistant, working on his Master’s degree, and was assigned to one of my political science classes. During a lecture, he told the gathered students that we all had to “aim high.”

Those two words meant a lot to me over the years and I ended up getting an “A” in his class. It meant that we were all good enough to succeed in whatever we wanted to do because all we had to do was “aim high,” and reach for higher targets.

If you want to apply this method of “aiming high,” it will work in whatever you desire. For example, if you are looking for a well-paid job, don’t apply for minimum wage jobs. Focus on jobs that are well paying, like union or government jobs. My sister told me once is that all it takes is one good job to make you happy. I do not suggest you spread your resume to hundreds of jobs that include jobs that will not earn you enough to pay your rent. Cast your net to the higher-paying jobs. If you end up working for a minimum wage job, it may not be enough to cover your bills and you may end up taking on another job. This could all lead to your physical stress and cause burnout. It is better to look for one good well paying job, even if you have to go to trade school to get it.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not against minimum wage jobs. It’s great for entry-level jobs and helps young people earn money during summer breaks and also helps them gain work experience.

However, if you are finished school and have a student loan to pay and other bills, setting your sights on a good-paying job is what you need to do.

I also suggest that you customize your resume to fit every job that you apply for. Add a cover letter, too.

Real Life Testimony

Not too long ago, I retired from my regular job and needed something well paid to give me extra income. I saw plenty of jobs that offered full-time hours and lots of pay but little time for fun. I saw a few part-time jobs that offered a few hours a week with decent pay. I applied for all 3 jobs. Not too long later, I got two job offers from the three jobs that I applied for. I had to turn down the 2nd job due to the potential of causing me burnout. The job that I accepted ended up being with the school board and involved working with children several times a week. This was also a union job as well. The 3rd job ended up being temporary, so it all worked out in the end.

The lesson here is that if you are fishing for a good job, you will hear back from the list of companies that you applied for. In other words, apply for that dream job and the chances are good, you will hear back from them. If you cast your net wide, you will get all kinds of fish, from small to large. Cast out a special net, and aim for the big fish.
