Two Ways In Which I Made ‘Morning Pages’ My Own! 🤓
I adopted the practice of ‘morning pages’ (from Julia Cameron’s ‘The Artist’s way’) but adapted and made it my own in 2 key ways. Form should not be the enemy of unlocking the spirit, value behind this creativity and energy-protecting tool: stream-of-consciousness expression to clear head-space.
- Sometimes, I do morning voice-notes, instead of pages. This is useful when feelings, ideas, and thoughts are rushing and coming to me at a much higher pace than my ability to write. The purpose of those voice-notes has been to unload everything in the moment, rather than to serve as a reflective tool for the future.
2. I do afternoon-pages or evening-pages as needed. Afternoon-pages mean I can get a new start to my day in the middle of the day. Evening-pages help me shut down chatter of my mind before I sleep.
