# Summary

Two gypsy friends, Gemma and Mandy, use their bellies full of candy and water to rescue each other from a well and eventually return home with a valuable lesson learned.

# Abstract

In a whimsical narrative poem titled "Two Jelly Bellies," the story unfolds about Gemma and Mandy, two gypsy friends with a penchant for candy. Gemma, described as sweet and glitzy, has an overabundance of sweets, which she generously shares with Mandy. Mandy, hailing from Poughkeepsie, finds herself in peril when she falls into a well. In a twist of fate, Gemma's candy-filled belly becomes a tool for Mandy's rescue. The narrative takes a humorous turn as Gemma bounces and falls into the well herself, using her belly full of candy and Mandy's belly full of water to climb out. Their journey teaches them the value of friendship and moderation, as they return home with smaller bellies and a business plan to sell their excess candy.

Two Jelly Bellies

A poem

Gemma the gypsy sweet and glitzy who had too much candy

She held her belly that wiggled like jelly and gave the rest to Mandy

Mandy the gypsy from Poughkeepsie fell into the well

She drank and drank until she sank and made her belly swell

They both had big bellies that wiggled like jelly and never did they tell

How Gemma rescued Mandy with her belly full of candy and bounced until she fell

Into the well, she went candy wrappers tied and spent and climbed out of the well

Using their bellies full of water and jellies they rolled home feeling unwell

’Til their bellies became small friends, forever they stood tall with plenty of candy to sell
