So, what’s a twittle?

I’m glad you asked!

Contrary to the picture in the header image, twittles have nothing to do with exercising your body. They do, however, exercise your brain — in a stretching, twisting, contorting sort of way. A twittle is, in fact, a special form of micropoem. The one above being an example.

What’s so special about twittles?

That’s another good question.

A twittle is no ordinary four-line micropoem. What makes it special is that it’s constructed using exactly 100 alphabet letters with an optional rhyme scheme.

Twittles are also special because I launched them last October right here on Medium! Last month, I wrote an update about them which included an invitation for everyone to come on board the twittle train 🚂. You can read it in the link below -

Now for the confession

I would like to tell you that the woman in the header image with her superpowered flexible body was me, but I would be lying. The only way I could do a handstand would be in an anti-gravity chamber. I justify my aerial incompetence by telling myself (and anyone else who wants to listen) that, being a Virgo, my element is earth, and that’s where I like to keep my feet — firmly on the ground!

I do admire anyone who has the superpower of twisting, contorting, elevating or levitating😅 their bodies into amazing configurations. I, therefore, call upon the champions of gymnastics, acrobatics, dance, yoga and movement meditation to share your superpower talents with us. Off the top of my head (which is not on the ground), I’m thinking of Thalia Dunn | Dr. Preeti Singh | Trista Signe Ainsworth | Jenine Bsharah Baines | Chloe Paulina Hawes | R. Rangan PhD — and anyone else who feels inspired. Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) very kindly tagged me into her original prompt which you’ll find here along with the guidelines -

Now for another twittle. Why? Because they’re fun.

Gymnasts are holy-moly awesome The way they fly through the air Yay, yoga poses tied up in knots! Nah, not for me; I wouldn’t dare!
