For some reason the crypto fanatics have been posting a lot of spam on my Twitter account. Not sure what I did to deserve their attention as I’ve mostly just been posting a series of blog posts where I’m testing out some new cloud security code and ideas around cybersecurity metrics automation.

When I posted the link to my GitHub repo, I got hit with some kind of reply I couldn’t see but increased the message count on my post. I’m not sure if that initial message was a crypto person or just some word I had muted but I couldn’t see the reply. So I just ended up deleting and recreating my post.

Then I got hit with a crypto spammer replying to the post. In that case it appears a word I muted hid the message but I could still click to see it. I reported and blocked the spammer but the message count on the tweet still showed one. I wasn’t sure if the reply was completely removed so I deleted my post and re-added it.

I’ve seen this problem before so I finally tweeted out to Twitter Support about this but I know this doesn’t do any good. One wonders why they even have this support handle.

I would really like to see this bug fixed. Also — why can people I have muted reply at all and why can people reply at all with words I have muted? It seems like Twitter should block that altogether. Let the people post to their hearts content but then make them the only one that sees their reply if I have muted them or a world the posted.

But also, even if I muted them if I want to see what’s going on there should be the equivalent of a spam folder where I can go check the replies if I want in case there is an error on my part in how I configured something and I want to change it.

I’m sure this post will go off into never-never land and none of this will get fixed but add it to the list.
