Turmeric: The Health and Spiritual Protector

Turmeric is an orange root, part of the ginger family. It is known for its healing properties of inflammation, digestion, Alzheimer’s, liver, gallbladder, hypoglycemia, and even hair loss. It has deep roots in Southeast Asia, dating back 4500 years in Ayurvedic practices!
Although turmeric is a main ingredient of curry powder, yellow and yellow-orange are colors with sacred connotation for Hindus, viewed as bringing favor, prosperity, and fertility.
Some wear it in amulets to protect against evil spirits. Being a rhizome (an underground root), it is symbolic of purity and its spiritual connection to the earth, with the deep yellow symbolizing the sun, indicating abundance, and a sacral chakra (2nd of 7 chakras centered around emotions).
